The Short Version
Sadie doesn't collect any of your data. Period.

COPPA Compliance (Children's Privacy)
Sadie is designed for use by young children under parental supervision. We take children's privacy seriously and comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).
Here's what that means in practice:
- We do not collect personal information from children — or anyone else for that matter
- We do not require registration — no names, emails, or accounts needed
- We do not have online features — Sadie works entirely offline
- We do not share data with third parties — there's no data to share
- We do not display advertising — no ads, no tracking pixels, nothing
Because Sadie doesn't collect any data at all, there's nothing for us to use, store, or share. Your child can use Sadie with complete privacy.
What Information Does Sadie Access?
Sadie only accesses photos that you explicitly select from your device's photo library. Here's exactly what happens:
Photo Library Access
When you grant Sadie permission to access your photos, you choose which specific photos your child can view. These selected photos are:
- Copied to a secure area on your device (so they work offline)
- Stored only on your device — never uploaded anywhere
- Deleted from Sadie when you remove them from the app
On-Device Photo Analysis
Sadie uses Apple's built-in Vision framework to identify objects in your photos (like "dog," "ball," or "cup") to display vocabulary words. This analysis:
- Happens entirely on your device
- Uses Apple's on-device machine learning — no internet required
- Never sends your photos or analysis results anywhere
What We Don't Collect
To be crystal clear, Sadie does not collect:
- Your photos or any copies of them
- Names, email addresses, or contact information
- Location data
- Device identifiers or advertising IDs
- Usage analytics or behavioral data
- Any information about your child
- Anything else — we literally collect nothing
No Servers, No Cloud
Sadie doesn't have a backend server. We don't operate cloud infrastructure. There's nowhere for your data to go even if we wanted to collect it (which we don't).
Everything Sadie does happens locally on your iPhone or iPad. Your photos stay yours.
Third-Party Services
Sadie doesn't integrate with any third-party services, analytics platforms, or advertising networks. The app is self-contained and operates entirely offline after download.
The only external service involved is Apple's App Store for downloading the app, which is governed by Apple's own privacy policy.
Data Retention
Since we don't collect data, there's nothing to retain. The photos you select for Sadie are stored on your device until you remove them from the app or delete the app entirely.
When you remove a photo from Sadie or uninstall the app, the cached copies are deleted from your device.
Your Rights
You have complete control over your data because it never leaves your device:
- Access: Your photos are on your device — you can see them anytime
- Deletion: Remove photos from Sadie or delete the app to remove all data
- Portability: Your original photos remain in your photo library
Changes to This Policy
If we ever change this privacy policy, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top. But honestly, our commitment to not collecting your data isn't going to change.
