10 Years and still learning southern expressions

10 Years of knowing Gretchen and I’m still learning all the southern expressions. Today she busted out this on me.  It’s not nearly as frustrating as “put it up” when “up” could mean down depending on the object.

Nothing puts a smile on a Red Sox fan’s face more than headlines like this…

Dice-K more fastball than I expected

Watching the highlights from Dice-K’s debut was reminiscent of Pedro in his prime. Lot more of his swings and misses where on fastballs than I expected.  But it was also clear that his change-up was also in top form.  He also seemed to keep the ball down very well.  Can’t wait to watch a game live to get beyond the highlights. Glad I have him on my fantasy team.

The best form of the post game interview…

Is now a blog. I’ve been reading www.38pitches.com since the start of spring training. Why in the world would an athlete in today’s world subject themselves to the standard boring post game interview if they could just blog about why the did or did not perform. Plus, as a baseball junkie I love hearing the depth from Curt that doesn’t get included when the traditional media decides it’s not worth hearing about what pitches he threw to what batters when.  Plus, he answers fan questions directly.

Grandpa Klima’s Beef and Beer Chili

This is an old family recipe that’s always won rave reviews from guests. Best served with saltines, some shredded cheddar, and some corn bread.

Quick Vodka Chicken Cream Pasta

Got this from the Rachael Ray 30-minute meal book.  The basic recipe is simple and easy, almost too easy. So I’d recommend adding some chicken or sausage chunks. Gret and I have also learned that (out of necessity) raspberry vodka will work as well. 🙂

At least I can enjoy my Red Sox games till 2009

Hopefully they will resolve this dispute by then and people with comcast will enjoy uninterupted access to MLB games.
