I’m officially here to make others better again

Over the last few weeks it’s hit me.  Somewhere between being 1 of 3 Telligent Product PMs in the spring and now leading a group of 7 with a growing line of products… my job officially transitioned into lead mode again.

Don’t cross the streams in online communities

There are plenty of good lessons to take away from the following deck by Randy Farmer.

How would you evolve Community Server?

Last week, at the In.Telligent conference I gave the keynote on our product roadmap.  It’s rare that I have so many customers captive in one room so I used the opportunity to gather some feedback in real time.  I distributed a list of features broken out by theme and told everyone they had $100 virtual dollars to distribute between the features.

4 more tips for working remotely

I accidently published my last post too soon. This morning I published the last 4 tips. Enjoy here:

11 Tips for Working Remotely

It’s been well over a year since I joined Telligent as a Remote employee.  I wasn’t sure I’d last six months working outside of the main office.  I’m sure these aren’t the only tips, but they are the ones that work for me. Maybe some of the other remote peeps at Telligent can offer their 2 cents after reading this.

You can’t afford to play Santa Claus with your customers

The power of functional style

One of the most thrilling aspects of purchasing the 3G iPhone was seeing the size of the power adaptor.  Seriously, having been a Zune/Blackjack user for the last year, it was a relief to find out that the adaptor was lighter & smaller than the actual device… by a large margin.  The design is so good, in fact, that I’m going to continue using it until I can easily get a replacement even at the risk of “electric shock”.  And THAT is how powerful functional design can be.

in.telligent 2008… Will you be there?

You like it hot don’t you?  Why not come to Dallas in October for the In.Telligent conference?  Sessions will range from social computing stratagies to education about the latest technologies.  But really you’ll get to meet more people like you and share best practices that you can use to connect your community.

Wow, that’s harsh

It’s the end of “Manny being Manny” in Boston. Apparently the whole team agreed…

Locking Down Community Server 2008.1

We’re only a couple of weeks away from a beta release of Community server 2008.1. As previously discussed this is the first of a more rapid pace of releases for the Community Server product.  (There is a public roadmap we’ve  produced that I’m hoping to have published next week some time to www.communityserver.com. ) What this means though is that we’re pretty locked on what we are shipping and what we are NOT shipping.  This post will give you a few more details to help get you ready.
